Chasing Bicycles

Chasing bicycles is a very common dog behavioral problem. The root of the problem is that dogs naturally want to run after moving objects. Your objective is to retrain your dog so that they no longer find running after bicycles a fun thing to do and stop it.

Remember that chasing is an instinctive thing for dogs to do. So start by taking the novelty out of it for them. Let your dog examine a bicycle up close and let them realize that there is nothing special about this piece of metal.

Next have your friend ride a bike around while you try to do obedience training on your dog. Try to train the dog to keep your attention and to ignore the bicycle. This will take some work, but is doable if you have persistence.

Tidy Cats Breeze Litter Box System for Multiple Cats, 1-Count Kit Overview

Its forward-thinking design divides and conquers with separate compartments for liquid and solid waste to control odor and make maintenance, well, a Breeze because your cats' litter should be designed around your lifestyle, not the other way around. Breeze litter system uses specially-designed, cat-friendly Breeze litter pellets that are 99.9% dust free and anti-tracking. Breeze litter pellets allow urine to pass through to an odor controlling unit. The urine is quickly absorbed leaving solid waste on top for quick, easy removal.

Another thing to try is to have your friend ride by in the bicycle and when the dog goes to chase have your friend either squirt the dog with a water bottle or use a shaker can to scare the dog away. Here you are basically training your dog to have a negative association with bicycles.

If you are not able to properly train your dog to ignore bicyclists then you may just need to keep your dog on a leash or penned up. While not an ideal solution, it will avoid your dog possibly injuring someone riding by. Remember as the dog's owner you are legally and financially responsible for any damage they cause.
